    Stink bait

I realize this isn't related to bowhunting, but this offseason is starting to get long. I've been fishing at lake Summerville a lot this summer, and until it got hot a couple of weeks ago the catfish fishing has been great. So curiously what is everyone's go to hot weather bait?

Can't beat the shad or cut bait. Beef liver works well and perch when you can get them.
You can look up home made baits people swear by online. I just stick with the basics.

I think Johnny had a homemade bait on here made with peanut butter and banana last summer. Did a live fishing thread on it .

I use Big Marv's punch bait. Not sure how widely available it is, though.

Thanks! I've been using TV shrimp and shad most of the summer, but they haven't been biting the shrimp since it's got hot, and I'm not very effective with my throw net yet.

I just looked up Johnny's recipe and I think I'm going to give it a try.

My great grandfather was a legendary fisherman and he would regularly catch catfish using some type of soap as bait. Can't remember the name of the soap.

                        Stink bait

Honestly I quite fishing mid July and stared back again mid September. I went after big fish and only fished with live bream, goldfish, and some cut bait for channel cats. I'll have to go back and pull pics of some better nights but live bream, 12 to 18 inch leader and a reel with a bait clicker free lined is the way to go! That pic is the Catawba River in Charlotte fishing from the bank.

Dam that's a horrible pic, I must have missed the last few leg days LOL

Hoop nets is really where it's at. 5200 pounds in a weekend

I heard C&J or cj's stink bait works awesome out there. Somerville is just real high right now. I'd recommend gibbons creek.

Stubby's dough bait (not stinky), Danny King's (stinky), & CJ's (stinky)

Have heard good things about others mentioned here as well
