First trip to haul gear to the new lease

Man, I don't remember it being this hard. Dropped my spot in Burnet at the end of last season and got on with a group in Mason Co. This afternoon, the wife and I will be making our first gear hauling/setup trip.....I don't remember having this much stuff. I've been loading the truck for 2 hours and still haven't hooked up the camper yet. The heat isn't making things any easier.

    lol..
    been there, done/doing that.
I moved off one lease last year, and just stored it all in my 40x40 shop, until I found a place..well, I found that place, and now im in the same boat..keep dragging stuff out, forgetting I had this or that.

The older I get the less enthusiasm I have for setting up a new lease.

          And be sure to hydrate.

Right there with ya. I am hauling a load of feeders and stands to our new lease Saturday afternoon. I will be by out there myself so I don't know how much will be accomplished. I am going to get after it at first light Sunday morning and quit before it gets to triple digits. I haven't worked in the heat enough this summer to get acclimated. (if I'm honest I would admit that being two weeks shy of 59 has something to do with it too )

Well, less than 30 minutes in, and the first injury. Had to do a bit of tree trimming so I had a place to park the camper......tree fought back, took the ladder out from under me, fell about 6 feet. I'm alive, a little worse for wear, a few bruises and a good scrape, but I'll survive.

Hope you're all right, could have been worse. When we were working hurricane Katrina, a homeowner was up on a 6-ft ladder attempting to cut a limb with a reciprocating saw the next house over. I advised him that wasn't a good idea. Limb fell, bounced on the ground and took one side of the ladder out. Guy fell and landed on his neck on the limb he cut and broke his neck. We saw it happen and called 911. I went to the door to get his wife, told her what happened and she started yelling at him angrily. She changed her tune when he told her he couldn't feel anything.

Yeah, I saw it coming luckily and was able to throw the chainsaw a good distance so I didn't land on it. I did, however, land on the limb, nearly impaled myself on the cut end......entirely too close to the boys. Cut my arm pretty good, but that's all.

I'd like to find a good lease that I'll stay at for a while. Moving is a pain and I keep adding stuff.

Left a decent lease 2 years ago for one that I couldn't wait to get off. Still setting up at the new lease. Should've gone this weekend but other stuff is in the way.

Well, finished for the day, mowed around the camp house, finished cutting up the limbs I took down, did a tiny bit of "scouting" and headed home.

Safe travels, brother. Working and setting up on a new lease, beats not having a lease at all.
I just made another move this year, and was fortunate enough to hook up with 3 guys that already had most of the feeders and stands set up on their place. They were looking for another member, and I was fortunate enough to be it. It ain't cheap, but I believe it's gonna be worth it!
