Remington 770 S/S

Anybody have or shoot this rifle? My nephew called to see what I think. He is thinking of buying it for his 13 year old son. I know nothing of the gun; I favor 700 BDL's. Academy has the 770 S/S with a 3-9x40mm scope for $379.99. I think it is a Bushnell.

What say you about the rifle for a youngster? The kid has been shooting deer for several years using his uncle's .30-06, but he wants his own.

if i remember right, the 770 is a replacement for the 710.

I'll say this Berandel. If he can get his hands on a Stevens rifle in whatever caliber he chose, he would be better off! Heck for a few dollars more, he can get a savage rifle combo and itll do him a lot better .

why not just get a 700 adl?

"upgrade" of the 710. Tell your nephew to check out the Savage 11FYCAK, it's a better rifle with a better trigger. There are some Remington 700 ADL Youth's on Gunbroker that can be had for the same price as the 770.
