    Budget for a small truck?

I am trying to save right now to get a small truck that I can use for work and picking up the kids in.. Im looking at ford rangers... Im trying to fig out a budget for it.. Im wanting to stay around 70k mile to 90k... It wouldn't be a daily driver.. I was thinking about saving up $3500 to $4500 think I can get a clean truck in that range?

I'd say look for the usual
          Oil leaks
Check under the oil cap and make sure it doesn't look like it has foam in it ( sometimes indicates bad head gasket)
Make sure the tranny isn't leaking or the rear end

Drive it for several miles, long it enough that if it had a cooling problem it'd expose itself.
While driving it make sure it shifts good.

I haven't really heard of any common problems for them.

I've always gone with of the engine is freshly detailed in its because they're trying to hide an oil leak
So look even harder at those ones

Oh and make sure it's clean title
Lots of salvages been pieced back together out there

If they say it's cold blooded and has to warm up
That's BS and it has issues
            Don't waste your time

If you end up looking at any up this way, id be glad to check it out with you

Id suggest a Tacoma over a ranger but they are about 2x as much. Very dependable but also in VERY high demand.

I would take the 4 banger over either one of the sixes. So said my mechanic after rebuilding the top end of my 3.0 Ranger
