Why is it?

We don't have a chance...my wife's weight has been fluctuating in the last several years since we've been having kids, +- 20lbs or so, and she can generally wear a few sizes of clothes. Some are too tight, some are too loose, and it really doesn't matter what the size on the tag says. There's no standardization, and different brands can vary an inch or two or THREE in their measurments...did I mention we don't have a chance?

All that to say, my wife has never gotten upset if I bought the wrong size...usually it's returnable, and easily righted. She knows I'm trying, and I know her style, so we get along.

I always have to try on clothes when I'm buying them!! Each brand and cut is different!

I'm not sure of the direction you are going with this thread, but I had a lengthy "discussion" with a female cousin and some of her female friends on Facebook a while back.
They were stating that they actually feel threatened when a male stranger tells them good morning or holds a door open for them.
I told them it must really be a sucky world to live in where you are paranoid that every one has evil motives for doing something nice for a stranger.

That's sad. Maybe it's a southern thang... but I admire a man that opens the door for me, stranger or not. I like being called Darlin' and ma'am. It shows respect and a good upbringing. As for gifts, if a man actually remembered whatever occasion it is and thought I would look good in, or appreciate something he took the time to pick out for me... I would love it. If its the wrong size I would return it for the correct size, no harm no foul.

The thread about buying a woman clothes sparked a question I've often wondered about.

When a guy only has the best of intentions and just tries to help a woman out in some way, why is it that so often the woman finds fault or automatically suspects you of wrong doing ?

Not bashing women, but it leaves you wondering why you even bother to try to help some people when they decide you've got wrong motives. Sometimes it makes a person not even want to help at all if you're gonna get blamed and accused.

The simple answer is "cause women are crazy"

FTR, I hold open doors for everyone, especially women.
I figure if that makes a woman uncomfortable, then she's got issues and that's her problem that she needs to deal with.

My cousin I was referring to grew up in Victoria, so she should've gotten plenty of "southern" training.
But she, and most of the women who were against me, live in Austin now though. I think that may have a lot to do with the warped thinking.
