    John Deere Gator

Does anybody own one? I have been driving a Gator at work and would like to know how they compare to the more common Polaris,' Kawasakis, etc. in terms of price, longevity, reliability, etc. The one I'm driving has a little under 1,000 miles logged and seems to run well, but sometimes it won't want to go into drive. It will grind until you get the shifter seated into drive. Otherwise, it's a fun rig to operate.

Pretty much every one I've seen was ran until the wheels fell off.

Never seen one that hadn't been worn down and drug through the trenches but kept running.

I have a 2012 Gator xuv 550s4 and it runs like a champ. Not as fast as the Polaris but a definate work horse.

The golf course down here by me uses them in the maintenance dept. Trust me, they don't show them any mercy and they just keep running.

That's 1200lbs of sacrete in the back of my father in laws gator. I don't even know how many hours/miles it has on it. It's built like a tank, slow as hell, and rattles like change in the dryer. But I'm convinced it can't be killed. I have seen it driven and abused for the last 7 years I've been around it. I'm scared when he buys a new ranger this fall it will fall short of what the gator has done for him when it's all said and done.

I drive a 98' gator 6x4 diesel for work and it can't turn well and is really hard to get into forward with a lot of grinding. It's pretty darn slow but I don't think you could kill the ****ed thing it starts up every time and always comes back for more.

Mine has always had the issue of grinding into gear. It's an 02 and still works fine. Can't speak for the new ones.
