    A/C vent recommendations

Currently I have these. I have a 2300 sq ft house with 10' ceilings throughout. Air out of the vents is at 63-65 degrees with the thermostat set to 74. Right now, it struggles to get to 78. The only thing I can think of is either more cfm or better distribution.

Would going to a 3 direction vent make it better? Or what vent would the experts recommend?

I'm no vent expert. My a/c used to struggle. You my need several things. We got a high seer a/c unit. Then added more insulation, radiant barrier and new roof. Just had new windows installed. Was in the attic replacing the filter and found a duct that the tape around it was letting a bunch of air escape!!! Good luck.

To date, the coil and supply plenum has been replaced, along with adding about 8-10" of insulation. We do have a lot of windows, which are about 15 year old aluminum double-paned. I just really feel it's either a cfm issue or how to get the air spread out around the house better.

        You got a central return?

Those vents are extremely cheap, which makes me question the rest of the installation. What is the temp of the air coming out of the supply grill closest to your inside unit and what is the temp of the air entering your return grill ? We are looking for an 18 degree split ( difference between the 2 grills ) minimum.

Yes. Just one on a 20x30x1 filter. It is on the opposite side of the house from the thermostat.

Those curved blade grills flow about as good as any other residential grill.
If you have a split under 10 degrees, there may be something wrong with your system or your ductwork, since you are taking the reading at the register not the unit.

From within the attic unit, the return plenum was at 78, while the supply plenum was at 62, so I guess we're close. The closest vent in the house to the attic unit is a closet vent, which is at 65.

I just checked it. 55 in the supply, 76 in the return. It has been running for a couple hours non stop now.

What size is the unit? It sounds like the sizing could be an issue. You could also check the indoor fan Speed. It could be wired for low or medium and not on high. (If possible). I'd have a tech come out and take a look at the system to see if there is anything that could be done. Pm me if you have any questions. I've seen this problem many times.

Those vents are ANYTHING but cheap. I have the same ones in an 8"x10". I was going to get new ones, as I'm putting my house on the market. Couldn't hardly even fine a match, and those that I found were a little over $36.00 each.

Those aren't your typical 6"x10"-12" very thin metal, Home Depot and Lowes registers. Those registers are pretty thick steel.....as far as registers go.

As mentioned, those registers flow about as good as any made. The openings on that register are much larger than the cheapy's from the big box stores.
