I would have one hell of a doc bill if I had every tick bite checked. So true story, I had one on my "unit" buried as far as that nasty little bugger could go. I jerked him out without using heat. Bad mistake... but it's still attached thank goodness.

Had my wife pull one off my back last night. Hit it with a dab of alcohol and went to bed. God has a plan right? If he has it in his plan for you to get some angel wings after a tick bite, I don't think the doctor is gonna help any.

Well now I'm worried. I was bitten by a mosquito yesterday....Encephalitis? West Nile? Dengue Fever? Malaria? Evidently to avoid the doctor means that I don't love my wife and kids. I should probably got to a "Mosquito Doctor".

        I kid....sorta. You'll live.

I have had plenty of ticks. just pulled one off my 3yr old daughter. just get tick off with head and all intact. watch for a red ring to appear around bite and a low grade fever. if so just go to a regular doctor and give them the details. I have had as many as 12 on me at once (Val Verde County). I hate the little S O Bs. feel like I have bugs crawling on me for days after I discover I have a latched on blood sucker. checked my daughter for 3 days straight. she had it right on top in the center of her head under her thick hair. could have been 2 days not sure.....

Do you have a picture of the tick? Reason I ask is because in the nymph stage they often get confused with dog ticks.

Never thought I'd see a thread worried about a single tick bite on a hunting website

I heard you had previously "saved" two of your bowfishing clients. Heck...that's why Ragin' keeps coming back.

I had a tick recently and wasn't sure how long it had been attached.

There are many factors involved in deciding whether or not to take antibiotics as a preventative measure for Lymes Disease.

Where did you get the tick? pretty rare for ticks near here to carry lymes, but not zero percent.

What stage of life was the tick? Juvenile ticks have very low incidence. Nymphs are higher.

How long was it attached and how much did it feed? The longer its on you, the greater the chance it could transmit lymes to you. And as they feed, the bacteria that causes the disease comes from the ticks hindgut to its foregut and can then be transmitted easier, and squeezing the body of the tick when removing it can inject it into you as well. That's why it should be removed by using fine tweezers grasping the head of the tick as close to the skin as possible.

The chances of me getting lymes was very very low.

I took the recommended 200 mg doxycycline as a preventative measure anyway. I took that med as a kid for acne for years so I figured why not. I do not want lymes at all! It can be a devastating illness.

The chances of getting it are very low, but it's a 100% ***** if you get it.

I got a recommendation from a spine surgeon for a Dr Moayad in Hurst.

That will be my next call. I had a spinal infection in 2012 and had emergency surgery to have an abcess removed. I will also be seeing a neurologist as well. I have peripheral neuropathy and I hope to get that under control.

My frustration comes from the fact that I had been telling my PCP that I did not feel right since 2005. It only took 7 years to blow up. When it did, it was bad!

They are not even sure what type of bacterial infection I had, other than it was not Staph or MRSA.
