    Unscrewing light socket... help

I'm trying to put in some new globes in our bathroom light fixtures. It's the type where the globe is held in place by a knurled plastic ring that screws onto these ceramic threads (the socket). What's the trick to getting those **** things off? They turn a couple of turns and then stick tight as a rock. Anybody? I'm getting red in the face here.....

Never had any issues like that before.

Are you loosening all of the screws? Usually just loosen up the 3 screws and it pretty much falls out.

Sometimes those ceramic threads have little perforations on the bottom of the thread ring that make the knurled ring catch or ratchet/click up. Hold globe well and give knurled ring a good counter clockwise twist. Outside of this...I would have to look at it.

Btech - no, there are no screws.... it's held from the inside. The plastic ring scews up onto the ceramic bulb socket and holds the globe.

Shoot it with a little wd-40

It's a threaded nut that screws over the ceramic socket, the nut holds the globe on.

Here's a pic, looking up into the globe. You unscrew that ring a couple of turns, and it sticks rock solid. I have 3 of them like this, and all 3 are sticking. Arghhhh.... What I might do is hold a paper bag up over the globe and break it, so I can access the ring with some pliers and lubricant.

                      Use some small channel locks.

Probably plastic shavings in the threads. Screw it back tight and loosen a few times and see if it starts unscrewing more than now
