Good game cameras for the money?

After having a couple of Moultrie D-40's not even lasting a single season, I switched to Primos Truth cams quite a few years ago. I haven't used them much, but one Truth Cam 35 leaked so much this year that it filled with water and it's fried. The two Truth Cam 46's I have are flaky - sometimes they take excellent pics, sometimes they take none, or won't take pics for a while and then start and stop whenever they feel like it. One of the two 46's has spent a grand total of a week in the woods. I tested that one today, and for a good 5 minutes after I set and woke it, it wouldn't take a single picture. Then it started taking them. But I don't know how reliable it will be. They are the original Truth Cams, not the newer ones, so they are a few years old.

Not looking for very expensive game cams, but want something that works well for judging deer movement patterns and deer quality at a new place I'm hunting. Hoping to find something comparable in price to what I paid for the Primos cameras. Hoping to get at least a few seasons out of them.

    What would you suggest?

    All the best,
    Glenn

I went to trailcampro.com last year and checked reviews and bought the Browning spec ops. So far it's a great cam

Once I switched to Cuddeback I never bought another brand. I'm still using the same 2 I bought in 2011 and they work fine.

I have two Molutrie m-80's, two m-880's, 2 bushnel trophy cam Hd, a stealth cam, and a couple of lower end wild games currently. I really like the moultries and the trophy cams are pretty good. Some of the newer wild game cameras are pretty good, depends on the model. Same for the moultries. The lower end models are crap, but the 880, 990, and up I've had good luck with or friends and family have had.

I would advise you give Moultrie another shot, I've ran them all over the last ten years and my moultries outlast them all and take great pics. The only cam I like better is my trophycam wireless cam but they aren't cheap.

I did alot of reading on this subject around Christmas because I was in the market for new cams. Previously when I had shopped for game cams there weren't many re iews online. Now, there are quite a few. Pretty much everything I read said the best bang for the buck on the market was the Browning Strike Force. I now have 4 of them and really like them. W/ pretty good consistency, the Reconyx cams were rated #1 overall, but they ate VERY pricey. Most of them are in the $450-$550 range. Next up on most re iews was the browning strike force. It was substantially cheaper than many of the cams on the market (I think I paid $139/each) while still providing excellent versatility, picture quality, & battery life. So far, they are performing up to the standards I've expected.

I just bought a Stealth Cam G42NG and it has been taking pretty good pictures for the month its been out. Had good reviews which is why I bought it and a coworker just bought the same and confirmed he likes his as well.

I bought one of the Ultimate Wild cameras from Outdoor Legacy Gear on here. He is a sponsor. Very Very impressed so far in the camera. It take great pics. The pics are so clear & the trigger must be good. Some of the pics of birds flying are so real looking ,they look alive on the camera. I will be getting more as my other cameras die.
