Best remote thermometer for smokers?

Best bang for the buck are the Maverick ET-732 and ET-733 on Amazon IMO...

There are more expensive ones but I have had such good success with my Mavericks I can't justify spending more.

Same with my maverick, but I believe it is the probe. I plan to order a new one to give it another shot.

Interesting...I'm on year 4 of my ET-732 with the original probes. TallTexan...did you get your probes wet?

I've got a Maverick and haven't had any troubles but everyone I know who has had trouble it has been the probes. They aren't the highest quality probes but for the money....hard to argue against the Maverick units.

At the advice of many I bough the Maverick 733. I'll be purchasing a second one soon. My smoker is vertical so my temps vary at different levels.

You cannot dunk or wash your Maverick probes in the area the probe and the wire meet. I scrape them and wipe them down, usually with a clorox type wipe. I scrape them with the grill mount and it actually works real well. Most problems (not all) come with folks washing the probes.
