    Vortex range finder

Looking at a new range finder. Doing a search. This was number 2 in top 10. Any one using one. On one of the sights

Here's my .10. I've used the vortex 1000, Leica 1200 and Leupold rx1000 all in the field and all at the same time. To me the Leupold is the better RF. It is faster than the vortex and very very close in speed to the Leica. I like the readout & reticle better than both the Vortex and the Leica. I do like that the Leica is 7x vs 6x with the leu and vortex. And I do think the Leica is better glass than the vortex and Leupold. But it's not like you spend hours glassing with your RF or your judging game with it. I think the leu feels better in your hand and is easier to "get on" than the Leica and vortex. My Leupold is a 1,000 but it reads at 1,000-1,200 with no problem. The Leica would also hit yardages over it's advertised max range. The vortex, not so much. I had trouble getting it to read over 850ish, on the same objects that the leu and leica would instantly read.
In short; I'd spend the little extra $ for a Leupold over the vortex. It's just a better rf IMO.

Thanks for sharing this info. I'm looking for 700 yard plus unit myself. Good evaluation notes.

        My thoughts exactly.

I have no problem looking a the leopold rx1000. But the vortex has a life time warranty. This is going to be for bow only. So less then 125 yards.

The leu and Leica customer services aren't going to disappoint, buddy.

I've got the Leupold RX 1200i TBR with DNA. I've had numerous Nikons over the years and none of those can compare to this rangefinder. I currently have two pairs of the vortex binos so when I was in the the market for a new rangefinder I was pretty dead set on the vortex rangefinder until I started searching reviews. Not good at all so I went with the leupold. The vortex has the better warranty but that warranty ain't gonna do u a dam bit of good at crunch time when u need the rangefinder the most.
I've had this leupold a year now and have not had any issues with it. It even ranges through the netting on ground blinds.

My vortex does what I need it to do pretty well. I'm happy with it for sure. I don't have any experience with the others though..

Also I've got a friend that bought the vortex rangefinder. He was shooting one evening at the house and had a target set at 47 yards. Ranged it the first time 46 yards ok he thought so he ranged again 49. He put it down and got his old Nikon Monarch 800 and ranged it 47. Picked the vortex back up and ranged again 51. Needless to say he sent it back. That's unacceptable.

Then I wouldn't spend $3-$400 on one. Look at the Redfield 600a. It will do everything you need for Bowhunting.

Side by side at the store the Vortex is much slower to range and the display is much harder to read.

I'm very much a Vortex fan, but went with the Leopold.

True story. Even the Vortex is way overkill if you never want to range over 125 yards.

$99.99 and call it a day

the lit reticle is a big plus on all three you mention. That is why I was looking at them for bow hunting. Had the Bushnell and the black reticle was hard to see sometimes.

I bought my nephew a vortex rangefinder. It's nice but I will stick with my leupold. The rx1000 tbr is what I carry and I have used it around the world and in some pretty demanding Bowhunting situations. They work. I have had the same one for several years and haven't needed the warranty yet.
