I do, but I would love to learn how to spot and stalk.

Me....you don't need them. Game trails, bedding areas and water location....that is all you need.

We are moving away from them on my place. Rather hunt the rut and food plots. Those east tx bucks are not keen on hitting feeders anyways. Probabally will always have some, but limited.

It's a beautiful slough down in the bottom with a trail wore plumb to the dirt from the deer walking through there. It's a long haul from the parking lot and you have to be pretty lucky to draw a hunt on it as they only give 8 permits for that unit. My spot is at 30 20' 36.73" and 94 47' 12.06". Carry your thermacel and a good rope to tie yourself down in case the thermacel doesn't work.

I've gotten to where I'll cut mine off or strategically leave 1 going on an end of the property that I don't plan to hunt for a while. It keeps the hogs from feeling the urge to make the round to all of them after dark.

Here's the opposite- on good hunting day, I set the feeder to go off every hour for as long as I want to hunt. Get some different deer at each feeding sometimes. It's a good all day strategy.

Ours won't go for it, see plenty but they don't care to go to the feeder.

The land I was raised on feeders work great for big bucks if you only like seeing pics of em at night lol. And that's the truth.

Our deer in the river won't come to s feeder so we do food plots. It really attracts the deer but we have yet to kill a deer on one. Hunting is super tough down there.

You got coordinates to your spot to share with us?

On this place the bucks used to not have a problem showing up at them. Dec 2010 the great hog infestation took place with a buck of sows and pigs showing up. Since then, 1622 trapped, not the first buck on a feeder since the close of that season and I've only seen a handful of does on camera at them. I can pour corn out within sight of the feeders and they'll clean that up though.

I've hunted 6 different leases over the past 20 years in the Texas Panhandle and we've always had corn feeders but, I can tell you personally that not a single trophy buck I have ever killed was ground checked under or near a feeder. I still use feeders but I never setup directly near the feeder location. What we try to do is to routinely get the doe groups coming into the feeder locations and we hunt somewhere along the travel route between their bedding and feeding locations. This has been more predictable on some leases than others and come November when the bucks start running we'll catch them on that travel route harassing does but 9 times out of 10 the mature bucks still won't come into the feeder pens except under nightfall. This is my experience. Another thing is most times we still have a lot of green browse around even into November due to warmer fall weather and the doe groups don't even hammer the feeders until they have to. Just my two cents.

I don't know how it's possible being where we are at but we've always been lucky on hogs. Always only had a handful and that it. Of course that is rapidly changing as we speak.

OP, your thread is right on and respectful. I too rarely hunt feeders. I have1 that I feed protein and will hunt it if its raining or I am late getting to the woods. OP, you done good, enjoying your thread.
