Guadalupe River SP

I need some help. Anyone ever hunt Guadalupe River SP before? I got drawn for the antlerless and spike hunt this year and have never hunted it. Book says you can shoot 5 deer, unlimited exotics and hogs. Are there many exotics at the park?

Any info on good sections or areas of the place to hunt would be great!

I have seen axis and sika around the park. I've never hunted there. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks Skeeter. Does anyone know if one area is better than another in the park? Again, any info is appreciated.

We have hunted the park a total of about 4 times over the past 9 years. You will see some exotics, we have seen a black buck and audoud (sp) and axis taken. But it is a hit and miss thing. Depending on which hunt you got drawn for you will see a lot of deer just small ones. Always in any of these draw hunt the best thing to do is listen to your guide (the person that will take you to the stands). Also if you are not seeing anything don't be afraid to ask if you can change stands with someone.

One year they had to many people and they picked our group and sent us over to the other side of the river (North unit) where there are a lot of exotics.

Been there one time, few yrs back. At that time, blackbuck were the only exotics seen. That was at stand #1. The deer killed were small.

When is the hunt- I was right down the road this last weekend adn the buck were chasing and even saw two mature deer. If i'm down when you are Ill buy you a beer or three.

Its December 8-12 mgmt hunt. We camped there a few years back and saw some animals but not sure how many are arround this time of year and which areas are best.
