Myocarditis

Just found out that my other wise healthy, brother drove himself to the hospital today. Chest pains and lots of fatigue. The good news is the ekgs have all come back normal and right now the doctors think it is more than likely myocarditis. I have done some research on the Internet but would like to hear information from the medical TBHers. Any and all information would be great as I had never heard of this. Also, please send up a prayer for my brother Hector and his kids. Thanks in advance.

He should probably follow up with a cardiologist. Need to air on the side of caution with chest pain.

Still in the hospital being checked. They are pretty certain it was not a heart attack but have not eliminated it for sure.

It can have several causes, and severity can vary considerably. Hopefully you can get some more information from him, and I hope he has a speedy recovery. It can often be quickly resolved if the culprit is a mild bacterial infection. Or, it can be reoccurring if it is resulting from a chronic disease like lupus.
