Another thread to check out on TBH and feel inadequate. smdh.
Been to a few places in Texas. I did see the Marfa Lights, that was on my bucket list. Been to Louisiana, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Cali, Wyoming, a couple of places in Mexico, and that's about it.
Would like to see the Morvan Mountains in France
New Zealand and any number of the places you world travelers have listed.
I guess if it is to be, it is up to me. Gotta go do some planning...

Originally posted by glen View PostThe National Parks in the NW are awesome. Wife and I did a couple months and love all of them. The National Forests have some great hikes and attractions as well.
Last time I stood on the beach at Rialto, found ancient massive redwood trunks piled up along the cliff. Trunk well over 12-15ft tall - preserved by salt water and too heavy and stuffed into the ground to move. Islands with trees, standing off the shoreline. Killer whales in the Sound and the Olympic National forest has Elk, Mountain Goat, Cougar, Blacktail and Redwoods with a rain forest. The drive from Seattle along the Puget Sound, logging towns with massive mountains and snow, much of it looks like Switzerland or those regions of Europe. Steelhead, salmon, cut-throat in the clear cold rivers. It truly reminded me of the years I was in Alaska - since the Ocean mixes with the Mountains. A weather and environmental zone, you can't find anywhere else in the USA (Lower 48) due to the Pacific's influence.
I will return - it is that impressive and each town, has history and some pretty good shops with handmade things and art as well as a lot of different foods.
Plane ticket and a 4x4 SUV rental - just roll and take it all back in.
Columbia River Gorge - 300ft tall water falls and some very cool surf mixing with the River's outflow and volcanoes. Oregon side, is also eye opening. The USCG Heavy Surfman school is on the Washington bank of that River mouth. When it's on there, just to witness them running through 20-30ft breaking bar surf is an experience. Hire a Sturgeon guide and release a dinosaur - lotta things to get lost in up there.Last edited by AtTheWall; 02-01-2023, 04:00 PM.

That and laying awake all night listening to mortars going off.I have pics of the airport in Belize with anti-aircraft guns along side the runway and the tail of a fighter plane sticking up out of the trees.
How the hell do you forget being shot at in an armored truck and laying awake listening to mortars? Did one of the mortars get to close and scramble your brain?
