    Shop insulation help

I have a 30 x 31 metal shop that I need to insulate. I am WAY over budget on this thing so far. I need help. What is the cheapest way to insulate this thing? I need to do the ceilings and walls. Any help is appreciated.

Just spend the money and foam it

Roll is the cheapest, but if you are over budget I'm guessing you already have the walls up. Spraying it a about the only option left if walls are up.

Walls are not up, but I have everything to put them up purchased. What is really the issue is the ceilings. The quote I got for the spray foam was about 2,800. Is this high? Is there a way to do the blown in on a ceiling?

This may be a dumb question, but how to I keep it up there? There is no false ceiling, just the underside of the roof.

yeah its probably too late on the roof....Normally you roll out the insulation and then put the tin on top of it.

Was the 2800 for the whole building or just the roof?

It is rolled out on top of the purling then sheet metal is put on top of insulation.

Yes, roll it perpendicular to the purlins. do one row then install the sheets over that row, and work your way down the building.

When they did mine, they used double sided tape one end, stretched it tight, then tape the other end. then installed the tin.

You can place the roll insulation between the purlins, and screw strapping to them to support the insulation, perpendicular to the purlins. Not the best method, but it will do the job.

I helped a guy insulate a shed and used chicken wife to hold the insulation in the roof. Cheap and worked great. If your going to cover it noone will see it anyway.

If you have already installed the roof panels, look into insulation spikes.
