I need to replace the four 6.5" speakers in my Chevy crew cab. I just want a decent clear speaker to replace the cruddy factory speakers. I don't need anything special and don't want to spend a whole lot. What would yall recommend? Two way? I just don't know much about speakers. Thanks.

Truck Speaker Replacement Question

You generally want to find a speaker with a high efficiency to replace a factory speaker if you don't have a new head unit or amp powering them. Parts Express has some very cheap options that will sound much better than factory. Crutchfield is very user friendly when picking up something that is plug and play. Just type in your vehicle and it will give you a ton of options. Low power requirement and high efficiency is your ticket. I like a silk dome tweeter since they are not as harsh.

I like Pioneer or JL Audio. Pioneer are pretty cheap and have good sound. JL are a bit more expensive but sound way better than they use to. My buddy's whole truck is lined with JL subs and speakers, it sounds great. Along with my other buddy's RZR, even with no cab enclosure the sound is fantastic.

I replaced my speakers last week in an extended cab Silverado. 6-1/2" 2-ways in each front door and 4" with an adapter plate to replace the 4x6 speakers in the back door. Install took about 30 minutes and was very simple. I went with JL Audio coaxial 2-way speakers for all of them and I'm extremely satisfied.

The best thing you can do is to take your favorite CD to a few of the local car audio places and listen to different speakers. Everyone is going to have a different opinion on what speaker sounds best. I personally run Infinity for speakers, as to me they sound best. Different speakers will also put out different amounts of bass. It all depends on what you want.
