    Ike...the Affetced Area....

....there is alot of folks just wandering around like zombies. The NW side of Houston seems pretty much normal with little damage. I ended up in New Caney and Potter. This is a low income area so most everyone stayed. Lot's of people sitting in their yards in lawn chairs twiddling their thumbs. No stores were open and the few stations pumping gas had 2 mile lines. Many trees down but little or no structural damage. Good luck to those still in affected areas. Hopefully life will resume some sort of normalcy soon.

For those traveling I10...the further east you get the more jammed the stations and stores are. The shelves were getting empty by evening. If it were me I would enjoy the week in San Antonio if at all possible.

Where are you staying. New Caney and Porter is "just up the road" from Kingwood.

Shank, I went in and out in the same day. I took some food and beer to family working on the power. They came in from Missouri and the food trucks have been hit and miss.

Thanks for the update! Shankev and I live in the same area and heard last nite there is no timeline on getting power back on. Guess I will stay here (Grapevine) thru the weekend. I heard some homes in Kingwood off of Northpark are totally destroyed!!!

          Oscar -
It is not like the coast, but it is devistating. MUCHO trees down. Some parts of Kingwood are unrecognizable. We are in Kings River and still without power. Lost it Friday ~2300. Traveling 1960 early this morning - more and more stuff coming on line...Wal-Mart, some restaurants, gas stations, etc. Grapevine may not be a bad place to stay if you have electric and such.

RRFishNHunt (Richard) who works with me took a tree through his trailer in Porter. Lots of nasty stuff down there. Way to look out for your peeps (food, beer, etc.)

I will help in any way I can. they are here to help so they need our help.

They said the food trucks are usually pretty good. I filled their trucks up with chips, crackers, cookies, candy, pop tarts, jerky.......stuff to munch on during the day plus something if the trucks don't show up.

              Good luck guys.

Landrover....if you run out of patience in Grapevine or need a change of pace our door is open in Wimberley. The RV is still in the driveway and the BBQ is hot and the beer is cold.

I honestly and humbly know how you all feel. My place went through Katrina and it took me ONE year to get all the huge trees and debris cleaned up!!! I worked my b--- off. Just me. I burned trash for 43 days and nights!!! My daughter cut the trees so I could handle them in the evenings when she got home from work. (She wore out 3 electric chain saws!)....if there is ANY way that I can help. please let me know and I will do the best I can!!!
We were safe from Gustave and Ike. We had some winds up to 40MPH and lots of rain, but NO damage. Thank You, Lord!!!

The estimated date for 100% power to be back on for New Caney is October 5 (at least this is what Entergy said). Myself and a fraternity brother will be taking my parents gas, ice, and whatever kind of grocery list my mom tells me. It is easier for me to truck it in from Nacogdoches than having them wait in line for hours on end and just end up getting $40 worth of gas.

San Jacinto County has no power. Lots of poor folks. Just started serving water, ice and just a few MRE's today. Yes, I said TODAY..They ran out around 11 am. What a joke., FEMA. HA HA... Same as when RITA hit. We was without power for 9 days then. I suppose these people here need to stand out in the roads for the news people and Holler "Help me, help me"
