The one I can never remember is when draping the flag down... which side goes where. I always seem to have to look it up.
When flown or displayed, stars are always top left. When worn on right arm sleeve, stars lead bars, as in the flag waving as the soldier charges forward.
As someone who is in the uniform industry, I must point out that I've seen it reversed even on military uniforms. The old military reasoning was the blue field of stars should be held high and leading the charge, when worn on the right shoulder. There is another school of thought that when worn on the left shoulder, it looks better as you salute or cross your heart to have the flag on the straight arm. In the private sector it can go either way, in either direction, without being "wrong". Personally I think it looks better with stripes leading stars, but we are creatures of habit, so we generally follow the old military guideline. I am glad to see this post, because just 2 days ago, we had a lengthy conversation about this. We got our teams baseball uniforms and the parents started complaining that all of the flags were sewn on backwards. After about 30 mins of discussion and parents getting very upset, I googled it to learn the proper direction and placement.
