No better gifts to be had. That's what it's all about right there.
On a side note, when I was growing up, the only times anybody bought gifts for people were birthdays and Christmas. All the other special days and holidays were celebrated with cards and/or just being together. I think the commercialization of all these other special days can take away from the good feelings that should be a part of the day sometimes. Not everybody can afford to buy a bunch of gifts for Groundhog Day and everything else. The pressure to keep up with the Joneses with that kind of deal can be a downer.
We just do cards and a special meal together for Mother's and Father's Days too. I much prefer the time together with my family to a gift, and I know it's easier on my kids too.
