Arizona Unit 27 Mule Deer

Has anyone hunted this unit? Looking at the rough country south of the rim. Just curious if anyone has hunted this area before. Would love to learn the unit in case I ever draw an AZ elk tag.

I hunt 27 for elk ......almost the entire unit burned a few years ago ....the big pines are gone ..aspen and willow are coming back Fast....the new growth is high enough to hide a elk in some spots.....it will not be in our lifetime for the way it was before...still good hunting in some area's of 27....the unit hunts way smaller now ....dennis in Az

Thank you sir! That was the big Wallow fire correct? Should I look for a "better" deer unit? I just like big country that has some deer, that I can hike away from the razors and quads, may not be a place in AZ to do it in an OTC unit

Buddy and I have hunted late season mulie w bow 3 of last 4 yrs. Lots of locals. It can get pretty nasty out there late season weather wise. We've seen some good ones but haven't closed the deal.
