    Fishing in Corpus

I need a few places to fish in corpus. Off the banks or pier. Maybe a couple that would be okay with a little boy. I don't have 4 wheel drive so take it easy on me. I'm here visiting my wife's family but want something to fry up.
    Thank y'all.

Both Marker 37 and Clems have piers you can fish on...not sure about catching though.

I have a few spots that are in Port A if you are going to be in that area.

        X marks the spot

X marks the spots. The pier is "Charlie's Pasture" on the ship channel. The other spot is the wall next to the ferry crossing. Both spots can be busy during the day but a night I have done well at both.

Go to the beach. Whiting on dead shrimp or fishbites on the bottom. 1/0 circle hook, the boy will have a blast and they are good eating. No limit or size or quantity.

Get a bucket of live shrimp and hit Cos bait stand and pier or red dot in the evening. Use a cork until sun goes down. Then when the lights come on remove the cork and just free line the shrimp at the lights edge. Cast at the edge of the light and let the current bring the bait into the light. They'll usually take it before the shrimp makes it all the way under the light. I use to do this alot out there when I was younger. Be careful with a young'n though, this pier has no hand rails. Always good for a few trout.

I second the beach if the water isn't too rough. I was down there a couple weeks ago and the whiting bite was on. They were biting shrimp and fishbites as said above. I caught a 40" Jack Crevale also. Good luck!

Where at the beach? What beach? I'm not from here. Is the maker 37 pier easy to get to? Gonna have the wife and kids with me.
Thanks for the info guys. Gonna go out around 6:30 or so.

Indian Point pier at night. Don't go to the end. Work the guts that run parallel to the beach on the Portland side about 2 or 3 lights out. The trout start hitting after the bait fish and shrimp move into the lights around 10 -12 or later. Cork with DOA shrimp or white and chartreuse speck rigs. Grew up in Portland and fished there many times.

Looks like I'm flying solo tonight. Going to red dot tonight and the packery channel in the morning. Thanks y'all.

I was fishing about a half mile south of Bob Hall Pier. Take South padre island drive out of corpus. After you cross the big bridge over to the island take a left at the second stop light on to whitecap. Once you hit the beach just drive until you see a spot you like. Check out corpus fishing.com for a lot of good info on how the fishing is.
