We have brought home my grandpa from the hospital for the final time. At 92, his body is unable to fight off any type of illness and pneumonia has been coming and going for the past couple months. Doc said that he would have pneumonia the rest of his days if we fought it. My mom, dad, and gma made the decision to bring him home and let him be with family for the final few days. He has fought hard against dementia and many other hardships that come with age. I have only known him for my short 20 years of being alive and he has been an amazing role model to me. He never smoke, never drank, never cussed. He is a ww2 vet, shot twice, took a grenade, fought from beginning to end in the battle of the bulge, once watched 5 men die in front of him while those brave men were attempting to save him. He then crawled a couple miles while he was wounded through the snow of Germany to find out he and 2 other men were all that was left of his battalion. He also led the first group of guys across the remagan bridge while picking up supplies from dead GI's along the way. He taught me many things about being a man and more importantly he showed me how to love Jesus. He has been married for 66 years. Not very men like him, I've been truly blessed to have him be in my life. He has had trouble walking for the past 2 years and so I would visit him and walk in his room and he would always say "back from the woods are we, one of these days I'll be able to go out with Ya". Well, I know when I'm chasing elk, bear, and deer next fall I'll have a hiking buddy looking over me and watching my every move. If you could please say a prayer for my family and my grandpa. Pray for a great celebration of grandpas life with plenty of family and that he goes peacefully as he will soon be dancing into the gates of heaven never again to feel pain.

Prayers sent up for y'all. Stay next to him as long as you possibly can and talk with him about all the good times y'all had together. I was with my Paw Paw in his final moments and I'm so glad I was there with him. I'm tearing up writing this and it's been almost 4 years now but I still smile every time I think about the memories we shared in the woods hunting, riding horseback working cows, or driving the tractors cutting rice. I sat with him that last day and talked about all those things with him and I know he heard every word of it even though he couldn't answer me.
