    Same deer???...and How Old???

This is a buck we named "Trip" last year b/c of his triple brow tines...none of us got a shot on him last year and we assumed he lived...we saw a similar deer on the cam from the same stand this year and I'm wondering if he's the same deer...and if so, how old is he???...I'm guessing 4 1/2 to 5 1/2.

Looks like the same deer to me, lost the kicker! I would say no less than 4.5

Sure does look like the same deer. Looks like he is 5.5 this year.

I'll be the first to tell you I'm not good at judging deer. But he looks older and heavier in body in the first pic to me than he does in the second one. So I'm going to take a guess that it's a different deer. Just my guess.

I think is might be a different deer too. Last year, the weather conditions should have produce a better set of headgear that this years in a lot of deer. I see last years deer larger and older than this years deer. I think there is relation though. I'm a rookie so that just my guess.

yeah...a good portion of our deer were much fatter last year due to all the rain which produced healthy acorn crop...my only thought on the similarity comes in with the size and shape of the rack not to mention the subtle facial markings around the eyes and nose...but with game cam pics they're just too hard to tell...

Looking at his white eye patches, the black patch on the bridge of his nose,, the almost identical white around the nose, the way the beams sweep across the top of his head and the almost identical rack shape leads me to believe it is the same deer or his close brother

If this is near SA or other draught stricken area, I would say he could be thinner as well as have taken a step back on his rack...

That being said, I am no expert.

Exactly what I was thinking when looking at the pics.
