    Welding Guru's - I need some advice!

I am wanting to get a small (110v) wire welder to use on small jobs like BBQ Pit add ons, Building small pits, Wood racks, etc... I am considering this set up

Is this worth it? What do yall suggest?

    Thanks,
    TC

There was a thread about this just a few days ago that I can't seem to find. Anyone remember it?

        Found it.

Go with the Hobart over the walmart one. Miller, Lincoln, or Hobart.....220v if you can swing it at all. 110 is really slow....

I second the 220. I would go with a crackerjack Lincoln stick before the 110 wire if you want to do anything with pits/smokers. If you want wire, look for a used Millermatic over anything 110 IMHO. Slow and difficult to get good penetration with the 110.

I have been in the welding supply business for 24 years.

Please buy a name brand like a Lincoln or Miller.

They cost more but you do get what you pay for.

And you can get parts if the need should arise.

If it's from Wal-Mart it won't hold up, as far as tools, don't waste your money..Miller is King of wire, Lincoln king of stick, Hobart would be last choice for either..I spent 8 yrs running stick and wire..X ray on both..Miller, Lincoln, Hobart will last a lifetime
