I don't think so. I think the only part that is real is the discovery or evidence of the species they were referring to as "Hobbits". The story is fabricated. Just like the stupid "mermaid" show a few years back. Discovery is garbage.

It could have been the same show, I don't remember exactly, but there was something they did on mermaids. They even went as far as to have a fake scene where one washed up on shore and some kids found it. A lot of people thought it was real footage. No joke.
