NICS Background check has delayed me

And I really do not understand why. After a long Will probate, my Aunt was finally able to send my Grandfather's rifle to me. She sent it to gun shop by me and it arrived last Thursday. After filling out the online questionnaire for NCIS at the gun shop, I thought it would come back good and I would be able to take the rifle home with me, but nope. I called back on Friday and Monday and still the same status. Not sure what they could be investigating, I've never been in trouble with the law, am a Navy Vet with Honorable Discharge and don't have a drug or alcohol problem. Other than my Birth Place being Vietnam, I'm a pretty boring law abiding guy. The Lady at the Gun Shop did say if still delayed by this Thursday I can come pick up my rifle. Now I am beginning to wonder if I am going to have a problem when applying for my CHL. Guess for now, I will stick with getting my guns through the Green Screen.

It happens to a lot of people. Dont sweat it. When they run your name, it's just a quick computer scan. They delay based on common names, etc. Being born abroad may have been a factor. You wont have a problem with getting a chl since it's done differently.

The process kinda turned my excitement of getting my Grandfather's rifle into frustration knowing it was sitting in a safe right down the road in a shop. Oh-well, come Thursday, I'm sure my excitement will return. Good to know that the CHL is done differently.

I've had delays on buying guns prior to getting my CHL. It's no fun waiting. But it does happen quite a bit from what I've seen being around gun counters. I'm sure something, like the birthplace, triggered a deeper look into everything just to make sure. If everything checks out okay you won;t have trouble obtaining a CHL. I didn't have any trouble.
