    Learn me on Polarized Lenses

I am in need of some schooling from you seasoned fishermen/women. What do you look for when selecting polarized lenses/sunglasses? Not necessarily looking for a particular brand or style of frame. More interested in what I need to be aware of in the actual lenses themselves such as percentage of light transmission, differences in the color selection (blue, red/orange), etc. What characteristics work best on the water? What were the deciding factors when you chose yours?

Just depend on what your application is. I guide o the water an use different glases depending on whether i am fishing murky water or clear. You need 100% polorized glasses. Dont be caught up in fakes. Costas work best for me. In murky water, Amber lenses work best. Blue or grey in super clear water.

For all around fishing Costa green or Costa amber. I like Costa Blue for real bright sunny days. I prefer the 580 glass or the 580 Plastic. here is a good https://www.costadelmar.com/shop/sun...chnology/color

            Costa 580 Glass.
            Blue- Offshore
            Green -Inshore
            Amber - Bass fishing

Remember also that the frames make a difference on light coming in.
            Black - Less light
            Tortoise shell - More Light

Most of your quality companies put on their site what lens work best in each situation.

I have found that Amber is the best all around use lens. Especially for driving.

for the most part, polarization is polarization. the difference with the better brands of glasses out there is the consistency that they lay the polarizing film in the plastic or glass lens. all polarized glasses do it take multi directional light, and "force" it into single directional.

that's why when you put 2 sets of polarized glasses at an angle such that the light direction is perpendicular to each other, they completely block out all light.

for general bay fishing, I prefer the costas in blue mirror. I also like the plastic lens because they're lighter than the glass. They're not as durable, but they weigh less

Ive always felt that polarized is polarized for the most part. I would rather have two cheaper pairs (one in amber and one in grey or blue) than a single expensive pair. That way you have both colors and a backup pair if you break/loose one.

Check out the sr91 lenses by Kaenon. Here is some good info.

Designed minutes from the Pacific Ocean and made with the craftsmanship you can only find in Italy, each pair of Kaenon sunglasses is a finely tuned instrument, purpose-built for a life lived outside.

Bright days on clear water and there is no match to blue glass. Grey for everyday and will also work in most applications except low light.

Unfortunately, I cannot wear polarized lenses because they make me awfully dizzy and disoriented.

Hit the nail on the head here.

I wear my glasses so often that if I don't have them and it's sunny outside ill get a major headache and disoriented.

I would recommend Costa del mar, wileyx, maui Jim and oakley.
