    Where to begin- work/vacation rant

    In January my boss announced he was taking our leadership team on a management retreat to his favorite vacation spot, Cabo San Lucas, MX.

    He really made it sweet for me by inviting and paying for my entire family airfare & lodging.

    Couple of 1/2 day meetings, a golf outing with customers & 1/2 day fishing. Then it would be about 4 days of family time!

    EXTREMELY GENEROUS to say the least and I'm very greatful and my family is ecstatic.

    We WERE supposed to fly out at 9:30 AM tomorrow. Were being the operative term. I logged into American Airlines today to print boarding passes, and was unable to use the record locator. No worries I'm sure I keyed it in wrong. Try again, no dice. Says the reservation is cancelled.

    Now I'm edgy. My boss can be flaky at times and follow through is certainly not his strength (I'm his follow through guy). So I call American. Agent accesses the record by flight number & name & confirms the reservation was cancelled due to non payment. The ticket was held via flight voucher, which American says they never received. My boss could never send me actual confirmation, just the hold confirmation.

    So The family and I are doing last minute packing for a trip we may not take. I still do not have reservation confirmation.

    Sorry just needed to vent!

    Wow. Sorry for your situation. I don't know how I would handle that. Very unprofessional to even put you in that situation.

            Isn't there a hurricane bout to hit cabo ? My sister is was supposed to be there from Wednesday to Monday . The did t go went to Vegas instead

                All said and done, you are lucky to be in the position you are in. You have a boss that is cool enough to at least set this up.

                Good luck getting on that vacation though.

                      Any explanation as to why this happened in the first place? As far as the "non payment" issue.

                        Not sure it's lucky, or cool to have a family amped up to go somewhere and it could possibly not happen. Now, I realize that payment may not have been handled by him and it fell through the cracks. That I can understand to a point. But if it was the boss' responsibility, I wouldn't call it cool. Especially since his "lack of follow thru" has been determined. I could set up a bear hunt for us, but if I don't follow thru, I really haven't done anything but pizz you off.
