    Vortex Rangefinder inaccuracy issues?

For those that have the Vortex Rangefinder - Have you experienced consistent inaccurate readings?

A group of us were shooting last week and at 20 yards, 3 Leupolds and 1 Nikon all read 20 yards. We measured with a tape, and it was exactly 20 yards. My Vortex Rangefinder read 22 yards.

We then started measure other spots and the other 4 ragefinders were always exactly the same and my Vortex would read 2-3 yards longer every time.

Just want to know if anyone else has seen this before. Is this just the way it is or is there some sort of recalibration that could be done myself or by sending back to vortex?

I was playing with a pair of Swarovski EL Range binos and Leica Geovid ranging binos this past weekend. Both were off as well

      Yikes.
Not that the Vortex rangefinder is cheap, but I'd be a lot more worked up about it if I had thoses binos and they were off on yardage.

I've never had any issues with mine when comparing to other brands. You may be able to send them back to Vortex and have them take a look at them. Their customer service department is amazing.

As long as your your bow is sighted in to that range finder and it's consistent then I don't think it would be an issue but if you ask someone to range something for you using a different range finder then it might.

              ^This

I have the Vortex but have never tested it against a tape measure. I sight in with it (bow and gun) and hunt with it. Mine so far has been very consistent.

I have had the Vortex Range Finder for a couple of years and it does the same thing. It is almost always two yards further at any distance. I actually returned it and the next one did the same thing. I figured a yard or two really didn't matter for what I use it for and as Geezy Rider said it doesn't really matter if that is what you sight your bow in with.

Yup....I sight in rifles and bows to my Leupold rangefinder. Good to go from there!
