so obviously some of you like it cold! me too, but I don't like the bills and i hate to listen to the unit running for more than an hour or so.

So, is there a consensus on what is most efficient????

I see the merit in leaving it constant (as long as it isn't set too low) and I also see the merit in raising it while away...assuming you don't raise it too high.

I always raise it when out of town, but generally leave it alone throughout a normal work week.

Kick it up a few degrees above your normal setting when you're away at work..... It'll help with the bill. I keep the indoor fan manually on, which helps.
Don't raise the setback to where the system will have to fight increased humidity....

Complete variable speed is the way to go. Look at the Trane XV18 or XV20. If interested I can come out and go over pricing with you as well

I just installed the ecobee3 thermostat today. It has the remote sensors that I can put in another part of the house and it will perform sort of like a zoned system. So far, so good. It also shows me that I have quite a bit of humidity in the house, so I need to do something to get that changed. Another return air?
