    Question for the LEO's..

I've tried searching online and havent had any luck in obtaining a definitive answer so I figured I'd ask the Green Screen LEO's for help.

Can someone let me know what the law reads about tinted motorcycle windshields? I've been contemplating using smoked tail light spray to completely cover my windshield but dont feel like getting a ticket anytime soon.

For a visual reference, I'm thinking of tinting this: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/re...%20Bing1^51904

    With this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/261789274042

for a result like this, only a little darker.... https://www.bing.com/images/search?q...tvw&ajaxhist=0

    Would I still be legal?

You're gonna need a trooper or a traffic cop who has no heart and pulls people over and writes tickets for such offenses to answer that question. Haha. Sorry. Had to give them a little crap.

As far as your question is concerned, I personally have no clue and do not remember ever reading such a statute; however, I would assume the law would be the same as windshields on vehicles.

I did find this on a quick search:

Transportation Code Sec. 547.613. RESTRICTIONS ON WINDOWS. applies to all motor vehicles.

And just out of curiosity- why, if you're riding a motorcycle, do you want to make your motorcycle MORE dangerous? Just the cool look?

            Hellz yeah!

Actually, its not that tall and I'm never really looking through it. Its really just there to block wind. In fact, I haven't used it in over 2 years but was thinking of putting on just for the ride up to Austin for ROT and then taking it off until the ride back..

So, if it were illegal, how is it any different from this? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNj..._id=8800005007

Which I see on the road all the time.

            Or, how about this? http://www.ceebaileys.com/harley/ima..._custom_01.jpg

Just saying... There really isnt anything that I can find that specifically discusses or lays provision for the plastic fairing-like windshield on a bike.

Thanks for the response Flyby, but even then.. It still does not really address my specific question of legality since there are products that can be bought that are already like this.

BTW, are you LEO? If so, I'm curious if you would pull over a rider for having a windscreen that was tinted like I'm talking about. Not trying to stir the pot, strictly curious as to what an average Police Officer might do.

Hard to say what an "average" cop would do.

Every one of us do things a little differently when it comes to laws like you are describing.

flyby is the poleace and I believe that his partner in his avatar. I also believe he was a traffic cop at one time before getting drug around by a dog

That being said I don't think he'd write you for that. Neither would I unless you had serious attitude and a 1%er patch

Chew on the other hand, he'd prolly tow the bike and make you walk

Don't forget about the Federal Standards too. Some guys really get into enforcing those

I'd never stop you for it. No different than a full face helmet with a tinted visor.

If a windshield is not required, hard to say that it meets all the same standards. Especially the shaved down ones. See them all the time.

You get a ticket for that, well, that's bout feathered as it gets.

Shoooooooot. I'd check him for dope and warrants and send him on his way. You could count the number of tickets I wrote each year on Caitlin Jenner's drop tine.
