    Lowrance HDI depth finders/gps

Anyone else have trouble with Lowrance brand depth finders/gps equipment? I received an Elite 5 DSI for a Christmas gift a couple years ago from my kids. Retail price with tax, over $400. Ripped up the boat to install the transducer, got it installed and then it quit working 13 months after installation. Guess what........... out of warranty by one month. All Navonics could do for me was offer me the "up graded" model Elite 5 HDI for an additional $200 plus tax. Guess what......the transducer is different...out comes the floor and side panel again to install the new transducer. Got it all installed, put in a couple way points.....now it won't power up. That's the same problem that the first one had. It too is going back. How can you depend on the gps to navigate or mark spots when the **/?>##@&& thing won't power up.

Anybody else have bad or good luck with their products?

Love the HDS units work really well, set points and everything. Best thing is the gps at night just follow the path it easy.

who told you warranty was only good for a month. is that just store warranty or lowrance. hard to believe they wouldn't stand behind their product. im on my 3rd boat and all rigged with lowrance never had any issues. maybe something wrong with your power. this unit should use NMEA 2000 witch are a little tricky to power up. I was doing It wrong myself when I installed some additional equipment to my lowrance.

I had the unit for 13 months, there was a one year (12 month) warranty, what I meant was it was out of warranty by one month. I have power all the way to the fuse checked it with volt meter 12.38 volts. Fuse is good not blown.

Are you sure you are getting the wires connection tight enough. How do you have it hooked to the battery? terminal clips or straight wire to the terminal?

I'm positive I have power all the way to the unit. Checked it at the fuse and had 12.38 volts. All connections are good, soldered.
