        They are good to eat. My mother, may she rest in peace, used to have us gut and scale them and she would fry them whole (no batter). They are great.

            They were in Lake Travis in the sixties. They don't make good trot line bait as it seems nothing will eat one, even gar. Stay do stay alive on the line for a long, long time though.

              So why wouldn't they be good trotline bait a tad smaller? Not much different than a sunfish aka bluegill. Seems like good dorsal fins but smaller should be just like a bluegill for bait. Please enlighten
