    Extreme LED mounting question

Have any of you mounted an Extreme LED light bar on a Ranch Hand behind the expanded metal? Definitely like the thought of the mesh being in front for protection, but don't know how it effects light performance. Any experienced input?

I've seen several guys put other brand name light bars behind the silverado grills so I wouldn't assume it would affect it too greatly, however I have no experience.

It will have an effect. Any obstruction does. But, with these high lumen lightbars it will still be brighter than any other halogen light without any obstruction.

Secondary to that. You shouldn't need any protection for the light. They're pretty stout unless you hit something really solid. Even then, the chances of breaking the mounting arms are higher than breaking the light itself.

I've seen one mounted to a four wheeler fall off a trailer at 70mph. The four wheeler was absolutely totaled. We found the lightbar about 200 yards away in the ditch. When we we got where we were going we hooked the light up, works just like new. A little scratched and ugly, but still very functional.

I travel a lot of FM roads and back roads where rocks like to fly up from trucks/trailers etc. That's my main concern, catching a rock through the lens.

I'm thinking about putting mine behind my silverado grill just for the fact that if some thief decided he wanted my light bar it would make it a little tougher for him to get to.

Those lenses should withstand rocks without any problem. They were engineered to be used in more extreme conditions than that.

This is my main concern. With them exposed they're really easy to just unbolt and run off with.
