    Hurricane Aftermath

I just talked to my parents in Cypress (NW Houston) and they had trees falling over, fencing ripped away and window leaks. The power is out right now and they heard that it would take at least a week to get it restored.

Gas stations aren't pumping gas since there isn't any power... If you are taking a generator to a frind in the area, bring plenty of fuel!

So if you fled for the storm, I hope you didn't have a lot of ice cream in your freezer.

      My House in Richmond

We were on the left side of the storm, and all the wind came from the north. We got some serious winds though I have no way of knowing what the wind speeds were. We didn't get a lot of rain out of the storm though.

Here's a picture of what my son and I had to clean up. A very good neighbor pulled in the drive way with a chainsaw and cut the big ones up for us and we pulled them to the curb.

This picture is of my next door neighbor's house. I think they evacuated, and all the other neighbors converged on their house, cut up the limbs, and toted them to the curb.

This picture is of a neighbor across the street. Big limb. Fell right on the house.

I live in Bridgeland Subdivision on 290 and Fry and we got power back on at 2:00 this afternoon - however we lost it at 9:00 last night.

In my neighborhood, it was mostly fences, shingles, and trees that were damaged. One guy had the chimney blow off his house and put another hole in his roof on the way down - poor guy just closed on the house a week or so ago.

Everyone in the neighborhood had rain leaking in through their windows - through the seals. This kind of wind and rain will push that water anywhere I guess.

My wife and I drove through Fairfield on 290 and Mason road to see how they did. Our old house looked fine but a lot of our neighbors lost their fences and they had a lot of large trees blown down.

Those of you who have your power back on,
Who is your carrier? I have Entergy outside of Willis, and the only thing I am worried about is after Rita, it was three weeks before power was restored...
Guess it has a lot to do with being on the Beaumont Grid... That still makes no sense to me...

I rode the storm out at work. I've been here since noon on Friday. Hopefully I can go home in three or four hours and rest up for my normally scheduled week of 4/12's that starts tonight.

My house in Sugar Land is still without power, and I'm not looking forward to sleeping in all this humidity.

In my area it doesn't matter who your electric carrier is, Centerpoint is the one who maintains the lines. I hope ours gets fixed soon.

Good luck to everyone who had to ride thru this storm.

                    Bowanta,

Just heard on the news that Entergy had major damage(cat.) expecting 3-4 weeks. Still no power here in spring.

Heard that the power plant on the east side of Lake Conroe received damage and that will slow the progress alot. I know I am on the Beaumont Grid, and with the damages I have seen on TV, looks like at least 3 weeks before power is back.
Wife and BIL are in route to our house to get all the freezer stuff and leave open the fridge and freezer so not to mold. Hope all is good there. The early reports from neighbors is no damage.
Good luck to you all. Prayers sent.

We do not have power anywhere in Crosby just east of Houston and I have not seen any crews in the area. I went to my parents in Baytown this morning and most of the town still looks to be dead.
