Kayak Fisherman - Anyone Modify A Trailer To Transport Yaks?

Was thinking about modifying my John Boat trailer to carry a couple Yaks. Can someone recommend a welder around San Antonio that can do this?

Or would it be easier to just bolt something on?

I was thinking about something like this:

Or just something flat like this:

    sure wish i could weld.

I used my john boat trailer, but just one yak. I am sure you can weld a rack on it if you don't want to use it for your jon boat any more

Mine started out as a Tractor Supply cargo trailer. I fabricated it and my neighbor welded it up

Lots of people use the Harbor Freight trailer. It's cheap.

Here is one that was done without welding.

With the single item discount coupons they usually have you can get that trailer for under $200.

          Another example:

I'd be happy to weld it up... Be a fun project.

That's not my trailer but I wish it was!! I am getting ready to start a trailer build at some point so these are just ideas I found. That stuff is called SuperStrut. Just looking at Home Depot website it looks to be just under $20 for a ten foot section. That guy has his rigged for 4 kayaks. I only need to carry two so I won't be going as far with it as he did.

TKF is a great resource for info, guys!

I ended up getting a Jon Boat trailer from Academy. Did't go to crazy on the design, but it works great.

                          Started with this

                          Moved the axel forward

                          Put some unistrut

                          Added some PVC bunks

                          And finally added the kayak

Did you pad the PVC at all?

Thanks for the HB lead. I need to get trailer that can be used for both my bass buster and yak.
