Heading up to put out feeders, cameras, and take a couple of my farmers a bunch of Dickies coveralls and jackets. I know there has been a lot of negative press about hunting Kansas because of over crowding and trespassing, but the farmers I have become friends with are as good as gold! Every time I come up I get introduced to someone else and I've picked up more dirt to hunt on every trip. It's a haul and can get tough dealing with a few of the I've got permission from landowners cousins sisters husband, but I think it's worth it!

I have been hunting SE Kansas for the last 11 years on private lands and have never paid for a lease. I first started hunting 25 acres a friend I worked with owned in Kansas, where he had grown up.
Eventually, after asking many people to hunt, and getting many no's, I started to make friends and got more places to hunt. I also have bird dogs and would take the landowners and their friends bird hunting over my dogs.
For the last eight years I stay with some of the new friends I've made during my hunt. I usually stay three weeks when I'm there, and some have brought their family to stay at my house for a vacation.
I worked very hard to make these connections, but I feel there would be less of a chance of it working in these present times. I absolutely carry my weight when I'm there, and feel very lucky hunting with my Kansas friends.
Good luck to everyone who will be hunting in Kansas this year.
