    One thing I really like about the alcohol stove is that not alot of folks know about the fuel. When gas and propane are flying off the shelves, you can go to the auto section and by some heet. You can go to the hardware store and buy some denatured alcohol. Plus the system is just sooooo small that I don't see a reason to NOT have one handy.

          Carnival generator, a bunch of extension cords and a whole lot of diesel.....someone who lives further from the coast with these things. If all else fails IAH to Nebraska. Pretty safe in Nebraska, nothing ever happens there. I remember being in Port Arthur when they called for evacuation for Rita and being 8hrs late on leaving. 'twas a lot of backroads between there and Diboll/lufkin instead of sitting in all that parked traffic.

            I just look one of these up. It looks very simple to make and its pretty handy. I'll probably try making one this weekend

              I hear you. I left pasadena late on purpose, didn't want to have car idling all day in the heat. Left at midnight. Arrived in Centerville at 8 am. And took back roads the while way. My bro in law sat on I-45 for 22 hours.
