Has anyone had their car hit by lightning?

Just like the title says. The dealership is trying to say my truck got hit and that's why it is having problems. The brake light and traction control light is on. It's a brand new 2015 tundra with less than 2,000 miles on it. Problem was found the other night before the big storms came through. It was parked under a 40' tree that shows zero evidence of being hit. Wife's car was sitting next to my truck and it's fine. They are saying the computer is fried but how could I have driven the truck to the dealership. Service managers know everything and I don't know squat so when I tell them that the idea sounds incorrect I am wrong and they walk away from me.

Here is a photo of where they are saying the lightning struck the hood. The indentation is about the size of a ball point pen. I don't know what to think right about now. They are saying warranty won't cover it and to get my insurance company involved. I have but feel as if they just can't figure out the problem. This is the second problem I have had with the truck. With less than 90 miles they had to replace the entire a/c system. Not happy at all with this truck or Toyota right now.

Where did you take it? I take my tundra to Tejas in humble and they have been great.

That mark looks awfully circular. Almost like someone put a drill bill to it for a second.

I find it unlikely that this was the result of a lightning strike. You can always try another dealership. I know it's a long drive, but Stewart Toyota in Corsicana has the best customer service I've ever dealt with.

Is this Dallas Dodge telling you this.....

It can happen but there's evidence of physical damage.

"While a car provides some protection from lightning, as the metal frame directs lightning currents to the ground, vehicles can still be damaged by a strike. Lightning damage to a vehicle includes pitting, arcing and burning along with electrical system issues, the institute said."

It happened to one of my insurance customers years ago. The adjuster will be able to tell. Lightning hit the house went thru the slab on driveway and then into the car. It fried all the wiring in the car. If it was lightning you will be covered under your Comprehensive coverage.

On my way to party in College Station from Ft Hood years back a bolt landed about 50 yds away but instantly my wipers stopped working as did the radio. The lights still worked and I continued the trip just outside of Temple to CS without wipers in a rain storm. At 20 yrs old and in thecField Artillery I wasn't passing on female company come hell or high water. Fried the computer and wiring harness. Again I wasn't hit directly but if you are close enough it can mess up your electricals.

My truck was struck during this past storm. We saw it hit from the front door. No damage but had an electric field around it for a second. It was wild to see

I had a car sitting under a tree that had the ECU fried after a big storm. Would not start or light up at all. My dad (mechanic) told me that lightning is the only way the ECU would go out suddenly like that. $800 later we put a ECU in it and it started right up.
