JeffJ alot of people are being affected right now. It's all around us. From your friends 250k entrance, to the low income hundreds that are homeless in Houston right now. As well as ALL the lives this storm has taken. Sorry about what's going on in your neck of the woods bud, it's here too. God bless ALL the families that have been affected

I am sorry you feel that way. I stated from the start that i was praying for all that has been affected by this. I was not trying to take away from the catastrophic events that have taken place and will take place in the very near future as rivers continue to rise. I was trying to lighten the mood with a " trivial positive" . There is plenty of negative out there so I thought a little positive might help. To all that were offended I am sorry.

Your good brother. I was thinking the same thing. Some out there are just hyper dramatic. Had a wife at one time that suffered from the same affliction.

Perhaps being right in the middle of it makes a difference. I have a good friend who knows the family that was swept away. I know homes and businesses that were wiped out by the flood and lost everything. I know ranchers who lost livestock. I know a lady who lost a dam and ranch entrance that will cost probably $200-250k to fix/replace.

We may have lost some fence, suffered other infrastructure damage and maybe had some deer get out. Frankly though I only thought of the deer once since the rain really got started Saturday.

Well said. I can appreciate what the OP was attempting to convey but think the attempt was misguided. However, if my neighbor/someone upstream has their valuables, equipment, widgets and other toils of their labor washed down to me I would not rejoice in the same (especially given their efforts, sacrifices and expenses over the years in compiling the same). I can almost hear President Obama speaking about redistribution of mammals. :-)
