My galaxy had a built in app that tracks steps, exercise, etc but I actually bought a Fitbit Chargw today because I don't always have my phone on me... the fitbit app is pretty neat with meals and food label info already built in... just search and select.

Groupon had the Jawbone for $59, normally $149. It is just as comparable to the Fitbit.

I was just looking at this groupon. I looked it up on amazon to read reviews but I am still not sure about it.
I had a Fitbit for a while but it was WAY over estimating my steps. I think it was picking up bumps in the road when I would drive and count them as steps. It didn't matter what setting I put it on, it was telling me I had reached my goal of 5000 steps when I had only been up for like 2 hours...
