    Passing A Monster gar

I have a couple of clients that want to break the World record alligator gar really badly! Any way, I have been asked to call them if I find one that I am sure will go over 300lb. Well, Tuesday after I had all three of my clients with fish over 7ft, I had a monster swim right up to the boat in a flooded field! No doubt a 9fter and super wide. I made the call and they were here tuesday.

We trolled around and they passed a bunch of 7ft plus fish. They told Don to go ahead and shoot one if he wanted so he shot his biggest fish to date after they passed. An hour later , we trolled right up on this giant sitting in crystal clear water. They asked if she was over 300 and I had to think for a while but finally said she was close. Next question was whether this was the fish I had seen Tuesday....DEFINATELY NOT! They passed this giant and we trolled away without her ever leaving!

The picture is crunched pretty bad but i hope you can see her right over my shoulder. Her head is in the weeds to the right and her tail is at the left arrow.

                    Those are nice

                    Does the TPWD recognize "hybrids"?

What is the hybrid? Gator gar and spotted?

Yes they do. Its a gator gar/longnose cross. State and world record is 74lbs. We probably should have weighed that one but I guessed 65lb. The more i look back at the pics though, i hope i didnt make a mistake.

Is this a guided paid trip? I'd be interested in doing this.

The second pic is zoom and crop of the first pic so you can get a little more reference on scale.
