Glad I got my free range drop tine buck. But, what's a double throat patch?

I've seen several double throat patch deer and have shot a couple. I have only seen one drop tine and it was a buck that was "off- limits" as I was a guest on a high fence ranch.

I would say that drop tines are more rare.

A double throat patched drop tine has to be unicorn status

Been hunting since 1976 and never paid attention to a throat patch and dont inow why anyone would.
Also never seen a drop tine so i guess both are pretty rare

Both are pretty rare where I hunt. But I have seen several of both.

I shot this deer 28 years ago with a double throat patch.

                  It was my second buck.

The only drop tine buck I have seen was 4 years ago on opening day of bow season. I watched him for 45 minutes in a feed pin at 30 yards. He had a 8-10 inch drop on his right side. It was S shaped. I thought he was to young so I let him go never to see him again.

Because it looks cool and is not something on every deer...

We have some droptine bucks around, but I've never thought of noticing a double throat patch. Not sure what the deal is even with that?

Drop tine. Last year I saw several bucks and a doe that had double throat patches. Cool looking for sure.

Drop tine. I've killed 4 double throat and seen several more. Only ever saw 1 drop tine and I killed him, and he isn't even a real drop tine....
