Fire Protection jobs in Houston are booming right now. Good trade; i've been in and out of industry for a decade or so but its always a strong skill to fall back on. Decent living to be made and tons of potential if you apply yourself. PM with any questions. Good luck and don't fret too much. I was in your shoes a few months ago. Things work out if you make a hand.

I got hired with a large company and been there since and very well compensated. I know its not what you wanting to hear. If that don't interest you there's lots of construction in Mont Belviue area.
X2. If you can afford it then might be a good time to get a high demand industrial training cert or associates. Electronics technology, industrial maintenance, etc are good in demand trades. Good luck

If you don't mind the traveling and being away from family, we will probably start hiring pretty quick. It is wind farm work. PM me if interested and I can give you more details.

No it is a gov issued ID card. They run a heavy background check and then issue an Id card (TWIC = transportation worker identification card). Proves you are not a terrorist. Look it up online and they will list locations of the offices. Most are on the coast. It is required for most offshore jobs.

Prayers up for the job search I know the feeling.

We have the jobs down here. Plenty of construction going on. The first thing I would do is apply to Shell, Exxon, Chevron, Enterprise and pretty much anybody else on the Houston ship channel. We all have big expansion projects right now, that's why there is so much construction work. But everybody is going to need additional manpower for these units before they get up and running. These are good permanent jobs with good benefits. A lot of them have pension. All of them have 401k, health insurance, vacation, disability etc. When you apply, apply for operations and mechanical. If you are going to apply for ExxonMobil I can give you some pointers on how to fill out your profile.

Yep. We've got plants being built all over in Freeport. Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Shell, and Dow are all hiring for operators and techs. I work for Dow and we can't hire enough people right now.
