    Oklahoma Trout Slugfest!

My buddy Burr turned 35 last week and to celebrate we went up to Beaver's Bend Oklahoma to do some trout fishing. His brother, Burr, and myself put a pretty serious beat down on them, some dang good ones too! My two biggest was 26" and 24", SEVERAL over 20". We caught our limit, then released a bunch too. These pics are from yesterday, and today was almost as good. I caught a 19" walleye yesterday and Burr caught two big smallmouth today. We had an absolute blast!

Fly rod or bait? Man oh man I wanna try that. Thanks for posting this. It really wets my whistle for some trout action.

I used to do a little fly fishing... That's not for me. We were throwing an assortment of lures on spinning tackle.

Ok then. Do you think they can be tricked into hitting a dry fly?

We are planning on going to the upper Mountain Fork in a couple of weeks for some fly rod fishing from canoes. No trout there but some good smallmouths and some feisty river largemouths to be caught. I cannot wait! Hopefully the rain and the river will have settled down by then.

There's no doubt in my mind. I saw some guys catching them and they were rising in the mornings like crazy.

Thanks so much Jooger. Now I'm really fired up about going up into the beautiful country of southeastern Oklahoma. We've had some epic adventures in that part of the world.

Beaver's Bend is more of a nymph river than dry fly water. Fishing wet under a strike indicator. Not the same as floating a dry but it beats crappie fishing.
