Best way to handle hail damage claim

I got some pretty good hail damage last night in Mineral Wells on my new truck and I have never had a hail damage claim and I want to make sure I get all I can out of the insurance company to get it fixed right so should I take it to the shop to get the appraisal or just have them come to my house? any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I always just notify my insurance carrier and then we go from there. Sometimes they come to the house and other times they have asked me to take it to one of their trusted repair centers. Either way it has always been fixed and back to me in a like new condition.

This. Just call the claims number and start the process. Every carrier processes their claims differently.

when hail damage is repaired to they just pop the dents out or does the vehicle have to be repainted? My truck received hail damage about a month ago and I need to get it looked at. Thanks in advance

It depends on the severity of the damage.

We had all 4 vehicles get hit with baseball/softball sized hail last summer. It totalled 3 of them. My daughter wanted to keep her car. I ended up getting a check for about the same amount as what the body shop's repair estimate was, after I bought the salvage car back from State Farm in the total loss settlement. I had it repaired and she's still driving it. If the claim is a total loss due to hail damage, you get to keep your regular title. It doesn't get a salvage title due to hail damage since all the damage is just cosmetic and there is no frame/suspension or drive train damage involved. Something to consider if you would rather keep your vehicle instead of buying a new one.
