Setting posts in concrete

Watched a guy install a flag pole, at my uncle's house, by tapping the pole into dry concrete. The beauty of it was, he didn't have to wait for the concrete to dry, to fly his flag. It was ready to go immediately. As far as I know, he never had any problems.
