I believe I had to either sign up for selective service at the dmv or provide proof I had signed up to get my drivers license

I was in the Academy when my number was drawn, so didn't have to worry about it... I was already owned by Uncle Sam... by the time I graduated, there was no draft... I just owed Uncle 6 years... though I served in peacetime. I'm still very proud of that Honorable Discharge... It's on the wall with the rest of my "shingles", but one of my proudest.
      God Bless the USA!

Yes still have to sign up by age 18 to be able to vote. Also any college grant money is also directly tied to whether or not you sign up. Also males only no females. Same exclusions from normal draft of old, single male child exemption etc... you can sign up at the post office or online.

Yes, men still have to register, as far as I know.
You can go to the website below and check if you register. It tells you the day you registered and your selective service number.

I don’t think the single male is still exempt.

I still can’t believe women’s libbers aren’t forcing young ladies to sign up to be drafted.

Sole surviving son exemption is a myth. If you are 18 and have nuts you have to register.

I have no recollection of registering for the draft. I did go to the recruiters office to sign up for the army but backed out last minute. I went home and talked to my dad and he said you have 3 months to make up your mind cause your free ride is over My choices were:

College he would pay $1500 a year at Lamar university
                  Military
                  Offshore

                  I chose offshore.

As a military recruiter it's one of the first things we check for with a male applicant. If they have not registered their application to join is stalled until they do. Most of them have been registered without even knowing it's been done.

Do they not talk about this in schools anymore? Every history teacher I had made sure we knew everything pertaining to selective service and applying.

I’m sure I did at some point but I didn’t register to vote until Obama’s second term and I was 32.

Males only. There was a push to remove that and make the ladies sign up also once they pulled the male only career fields and women from combat jobs restriction. But like everything else in congress it quietly got dropped when something else came up.

Equal is equal. They wanna open up the jobs, they should have to sign up like the rest of us.

So, what if you’re gender fluid and on that day you feel like a female? They have to recognize this as a legitimate gender now right?

Mine must have been done automatically, because I do not recall signing up for this.
